Hot Enough For You?
I've decided on the Christmas gift this year for my friends and acquaintances: a calendar, and a U.S.map. I'll only be out about $9.00 each, and it will (hopefully) stave off something silly that has become an annual tradition: complaining about the heat in Texas in Summer.
It's July in North Texas, and it's common to hear, "Can you believe it's going to get in the hundreds this week?"
Uhhh...YEAH!
Those of us that are natives of Texas know this.
Those who have lived here five years or longer know this.
Those who just moved here yesterday evening know this.
9-out-of-10 grammar school kids in Indonesian Social Studies classes, when faced with the fill-in-the-blank test question, "Name a hot place", answer, "TEXAS".
Saying that it's hot in Texas in July is similar to saying, "that hammer's gonna hurt when you hit me in the head with it.? Or, "Stubie's wife is much smarter than Stubie."
So, keep hydrated, pace yourself, and give thanks to Willis Carrier.
It's July.
It's Texas.
It's hot.
Duh.
